Private John Fallon
The background of this North Irish Horseman is not known at present, other than that he was born around 1887.
The records are not clear, but it appears that John Fallon enlisted in the Hussars of the Line in mid-January 1915 (No.24373). According to the Silver War Badge Rolls, however, he enlisted on 13 January 1917.
Fallon joined the North Irish Horse between 3 and 30 July 1917 (No.2606 – later Corps of Hussars No.71905). In 1917 or 1918 he embarking for France, where he was posted to one of the squadrons of the 1st North Irish Horse Regiment. This regiment served as corps cavalry to VII, XIX, then V Corps from its establishment in May 1916 until February-March 1918, when it was dismounted and converted to a cyclist unit, serving as corps cyclists to V Corps until the end of the war.
On 13 May 1919 Fallon was discharged as 'surplus to military requirements, having suffered impairment since entry into the service' (paragraph 392 xvi(a), King's Regulations).
